CMSA Research Associate Aaron Landesman, along with Daniel Litt, received the Frontiers of Science award in Mathematics for the paper, Geometric local systems on very general curves and isomonodromy published in the Journal of the American Mathematical Society (2024).
The paper establishes that the minimum rank of a non-isotrivial local system of geometric origin on a general curve of genus \(g\) is at least \(2\sqrt{g+1}\).
