Postdoctoral Fellow at the Center of Mathematical Sciences and Applications

Position Description: The Center of Mathematical Sciences and Applications (CMSA) at Harvard University welcomes applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow position in the mathematical sciences to begin in the academic year 2027–2028. The Center is seeking individuals with a strong mathematical science background who are interested in the interaction of mathematics with fields such as physics, biology, economics, computer science, AI, statistics, and other disciplines.

Basic Qualifications: Ph.D. in a relevant field

Special Instructions: The application should include a cover letter/letter of application, a CV, a research statement, and a publication list. Include a 1–2 page document entitled “Plans at CMSA” that (1) addresses the suitability of CMSA to the applicant’s research strengths and goals, and (2) tells specific plans to take advantage of the special nature of CMSA. In addition, three letters of recommendation should be submitted. The application deadline is November 15, 2026.

Due to the importance of in-person mentoring with their faculty sponsor, direct interactions with colleagues and researchers in their field, and full engagement with CMSA activities, it is expected that postdoctoral fellows work on campus.

Pay offered to the selected candidate is dependent on factors such as years of experience, training or qualification, field of scholarship, and accomplishments in the field.

The ranges for researchers are as follows:
Postdocs: $67,600-$80,000
Research Associates: $68,964-$95,000
