Title: On Axially Symmetric Perturbations of Kerr Black Hole Spacetimes
Abstract: The Kerr black hole stability problem is an important open problem in general relativity. In this talk, I will focus on the role of energy methods in the axisymmetric stability of Kerr black hole spacetimes. In particular, I will discuss the construction and the application of a positive Hamiltonian energy for axially symmetric Maxwell and Einstein perturbations of sub-extremal Kerr black hole spacetimes.
